This year, I am starting a new holiday tradition with my toddler. I will be swapping out all of the books on his bookshelf for Christmas books. Some are interactive, with lift-the-flaps or songs. Some are religious and some are silly. Today I’ll be sharing some of my favorites as well as some new holiday books I am excited to try!

Board Books

My son LOVES his Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse! book. We keep it on his bookshelf all year round. I am excited for him to get the Christmas version this year!

Trucks are always a big hit in our house. We even have a book about colors from this series.

Eric Carle, take my money! We literally have at least four Hungry Caterpillar books and to say we are obsessed is an understatement.

This looks so fun! It is great for littles that may need a silly book to catch their attention. And the great thing about this book is that it is a part of a much larger series! Cocoa goes on a LOT of adventures.

We can’t have a list of Christmas books without the Grinch mentioned, can we? We are introducing the classic TV special to our son this year, and I can’t wait to get started with this book!

This book looks great for parents with messy kiddos! I think preschoolers would be enthralled with this one.

The Night Before Christmas is the quintessential festive Christmas book. I think this is a great one to read as a family on Christmas Eve.

Hanukkah & Kwanza

Anything to do with Paw Patrol gets my kid’s attention. This is a great book to get littles interested about Hanukkah.

This book looks adorable. It includes a hungry, curious bear, a Bubba that can’t see very well and a funny story that kids will love!

Books, even children’s books can get costly if you are not careful. If you are looking for Holiday books without spending a ton, here are some options for you.

Check Them Out From the Library

All you need is a *free* library card! You can spend an afternoon at the library ready and then check out some more books to read over the holidays.

Swap With Friends or Family

If you have other small children in your life, consider swapping books so that everyone gets fresh books for the holiday.

Shop Second Hand

Thrift and Consignment shops sometimes have huge book selections. You can find some really great stuff at a fraction of the retail price. Happy hunting!
