Great Holiday Décor for Families With Toddlers
The holiday season is in full swing and I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait to decorate! Having a toddler means that most of my holiday décor (if not all!) are going to be roughly handled and examined thoroughly.
That also means that as much as I love glass ornaments and ceramic trees, now is not the time for them. It just is not wise to have them scattered about my home where they will inevitable end up breaking accidentally. There will be time for that when he is a bit older.

So I’ve searched for holiday décor that *should* withstand a fall from abut three feet. I also looked for holiday décor that could withstand possibly being picked at by tiny hands. Anything else in this list is either out of reach (e.g. hanging lights), or outdoor decorations. I also tried to find items without small choke-able pieces as well. So what are you waiting for? Get decorating, mama!

Instead of stressing about decorating the whole house for each season, I learned a great trick from a friend of mine. She has a set area in her house that is continuously changed out. By keeping everything confined to a certain area, she does not get overwhelmed come clean up time. She does not put out holiday décor and then forget where she put everything when the holiday is over. She knows exactly where everything is.
In her case, that means a shelf by the front door, and a buffet in the dining room. Come Christmas, the shelf is decorated with trees and the buffet has a Christmas village on it. Come February, valentine decorations abound. At Memorial Day, flags go up in these two areas until Labor Day. You get the idea.
Use this tip to go all out on your entryway table, and don’t worry if you don’t get to more than that. You’ll have more time when the littles aren’t so little to decorate everything perfectly. In the meantime, be sure to make as many great memories with your kiddos as possible. Happy Holidays!

We have the snowman for our front yard and the kids love it. The color white isn’t allowed inside right now though. Haha.
That’s a great idea to only have 1 area and I guess to it limits the amount you can have as well! I’m a bit of a hoarder/collector when it comes to Christmas decorations – boxes and boxes of them – but I’m hoping this year I reduce it to only the ones I absolutely love!
