Top Twenty Fall Self Care Ideas for Women: How to Romanticize Autumn on a Budget

Fall is a time for slowing down. For unwinding. For giving yourself a break. As a busy mom in a very busy season of life, I am making an effort to enjoy as much of the literal season I’m in as possible. Today I’m excited to share my top twenty ways to romanticize Autumn on a Budget.

Burn a Candle

An easy and budget friendly way to romanticize Autumn is by lighting a candle. From pumpkin spice to sandalwood to cinnamon, find a fall scent you enjoy and get cozy!

Open the Windows

Let some fresh air in when the weather starts to cool down. Fall is my favorite time of year to let the breeze in. There is no pollen to aggravate allergies, nor is it too hot or cold to feel pleasant. It’s also great for helping your home to feel and smell fresher.

Journal

It might be apparent from this blog that I like to write, but you don’t have to have a blog to journal your thoughts. Autumn is a great time to slow down and catalogue everything you didn’t get around to writing down in the busy Summer season.

Wear Your Thickest, Comfiest Sweater

Once the weather cools down, I always get excited to wear my Fall and Winter wardrobe. Pull out your favorite sweater and wear it as often as possible. By Enjoying your Fall-centered items in the moment, you are able to romanticize a seemingly unimportant part of each day: getting dressed. Plus, this self care idea is totally free! How is that for budget friendly?!

Try a Face Mask

When it starts to get dark earlier, I try to find more things to do indoors that don’t involve a screen. I like to either mix up a face mask or buy one of these and slap it on. While it is drying, I’ll paint my toes or read.

It is a small way to give myself a little self care that brightens my outlook for the following day.

Take Time to be Artistic

Draw, paint, color in your kiddo’s coloring books. Try your hand at clay sculpting or pottery painting.

Find a Fall-flavored Coffee or Tea

A super budget friendly way to show yourself some self care is to find a seasonal coffee or tea you really like and brew a cup of love each morning. Many like a pumpkin spice flavor, some like chai or cinnamon. There are so many inexpensive options and it make this season just a tiny bit more special.

Try a New Hobby

Fall is a great time to try something new. With the time change and the weather changing, we all tend to have a little more free time on our hands in the evening. Check out my post on hobbies for moms for some ideas!

Eat in Season

Give your body some love and attention by feeding it healthy, delicious in season foods like squash, pumpkin, broccoli and kale. Our pumpkins were planted in June, and we will be growing some spinach this Fall as well. Check out my post on gardening for some budget friendly ways to grow your own food!

Visit a Farmers Market

If you cannot grow your own, get that healthy food as locally sourced as possible at your local farmers market. Most markets are wrapping up in the fall, so you can enjoy the cooler weather with less crowds.

Read a Book

Get in the autumn spirit with some seasonal reads. This Fall self care idea is perfect for the changing weather. Cozy up and check out my favorite books for busy moms for some inspiration. This is a fantastic way to romanticize Autumn on a budget.

Meditate With Intention

A self care activity that is beneficial year round, meditating in the fall is a great way to slow down and make time to actually enjoy the season you’re in.

I’ll admit that meditating is something I struggle with. My mind is always going a mile a minute, so being able to enjoy silence is a challenge for me. But I still think it is worth it, which is why I keep trying! If the weather permits, try meditating outside.

Host a Game Night

When it starts getting dark so much earlier, I love getting together with girlfriends and having a friendly game night. Whether you like board games, trivia, or something silly, a Fall game night will be loads of fun. Below are some board games we’ve enjoyed”

Bake Something Cozy

In the Fall, I love to make pumpkin bread, coffee cake, and of course, snickerdoodles. Find a recipe with your favorite fall flavors and then share with loved ones. This is a great kitchen activity for little ones

Go for a Walk and Watch the Leaves Change

There is just something about the crunch of leaves underfoot and the gorgeous reds, oranges, and yellows of Fall that make me feel at peace. While Autumn is admittedly my favorite season, it doesn’t have to be yours to give you some peace. Going for a walk in the Fall can be a fantastic form of self care.

Declutter

Early Autumn is a great time to get rid of the excess before the holidays are in full swing. Exercise a little Fall self care by decluttering your whole house or ease into it with some quick and easy ways to declutter

Immerse yourself in autumnal décor for a quick serotonin boost! Giving your place a quick seasonal makeover is a great way to practice Fall self care. Make it budget friendly by shopping second hand or reusing last year’s décor!

Spending more time indoors can be great for writing in a gratitude journal. I love being able to track what I am thankful for. This is also a great way to romanticize your life year-round!
